The plug valve is a kind of quick opening and closing through valve. Because the movement between the sealing surfaces has the action of wiping, and when it is fully opened, it can completely prevent contact with the flowing medium, so it can also be used for the medium with suspended particles. Another important feature of the valve is that it is easy to adapt to the multi-channel structure, so that one valve can obtain two, three or even four different flow channels. This can simplify the design of the piping system, reduce the amount of valves and some connecting accessories needed in the equipment.
How it works

Small non packing plug valve is also known as "cock". The plug body of the plug valve is mostly a cone (or a cylinder), which is matched with the conical hole surface of the valve body to form a sealing pair.
Plug valve is one of the earliest used valves with simple structure, quick opening and closing, and small fluid resistance.
The ordinary plug valve is sealed by the direct contact between the finished metal plug body and the valve body, so the sealing performance is poor, the opening and closing force is large, and it is easy to wear. It can only be used in low pressure (no more than 1 MPa) and small diameter (less than 100 mm).
